TURLOCK, CA - This morning the club has announced that beginning in 2023 both it's men's and women's team would be making the jump to the United Soccer League (USL).
The Women's team is joining the brand newly announced Norcal Division of the USL W League. AC is joining Cal Storm, Marin FC, Pleasanton Rage, Oakland Soul, Olympic Club, SF Glens, and Stockton Cargo as the inaugural members of USL W's first West Coast division.
Coach Damon Solomon said "I think it'll be wonderful that we are joining USL W league this summer. The organization is great for the women’s game and gives an avenue for college, high school, club and post college players to play in the summer. There is a lot of deep talent in the valley/209 area that can complete with other areas in NorCal and the Western area. I can’t wait to see more players and fans come out this season, and join the Academica womens side."

The club is also making the switch to USL on the men's side. The Men's team will be competing in the prestigious USL League Two (USLL2) starting this summer. USLL2 has been the starting point for many players in the professional ranks. The USMNT squad in Qatar currently has 8 players with USLL2 experience, including starting goalkeeper Matt Turner. The club will be joining the Southwest Division in the Western conference which includes CV Fuego, Davis Legacy, FC Golden State, Marin FC, Project 51O, SF City FC, SF Glens, SoCal Seahorses, and reigning national champions Ventura County Fusion.
Long time head coach Sergio Sousa had this to say, "We are very excited to be joining USLL2. The competition and the level of players are elevated. We love that we get to bring that to our home and connect our club with the USL. AC continues to move in the right direction, providing great opportunities for the players in our area."
More updates regarding the switch will become available as the season moves closer!
